Returning to Cusco, I felt happy and at home again. It was Halloween and we were nearly at the Inca Trail part of our journey! Lottie, Andrea, Jenna and I went shopping for Halloween outfits to wear to the fancy dress party at Fallen Angel, the cosmic gay club I visited earlier on my trip. We found some angel wings, and deciding that I would be a fallen angel myself, as I had only got a black dress, despite all the other girls wearing white, I looked forward to the night ahead.

Andréa and I decided to visit Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun. It was an interesting building, and I was later told at Sacsayhuaman, after the Inca Trail, that it formed part of Cusco´s Puma shape. The male genetalia, in fact.

José was not going to be put off dressing up and joining us, and he donned a Dracula cape and escorted us to some bars before we went on to the club 01 Halloween hunnies

. We were the centre of attention as we walked through the crowded main square, smarming with children dressed up as ghouls and witches. They held up their hands, ´money.´ So much for ´trick or treat!´ Deciding to look for food, we went to a restaurant José had taken some of the other girls too. We were the only ones dressed up in glitter and wings and caused a commotion as we walked in. Everyone started laughing! And in the next impulse, grabbing a camera. An extremely large Dutchman took a picture. Feeling enboldened by the fact we held a pose for him, he strode into the middle of us and posed so that a friend could take his picture with us! I can´t speak for the others, but I found it lots of fun and felt a little like a celebrity for the evening.

After that, we went to a bar and chatted to Zorro and a ´Random Man from the 70´s.` Did he have to be someone specific? he asked me. José frowned, he gets protective over us when we go out. He went downstairs and had a drink at the bar. Sometimes, he is the epitome of the strong, silent (sometimes moody) type that feature in modern fairytales.

Fallen Angel was great fun - we danced and chatted and I posed with some of the drag queens. Lottie has all the pictures from this night as I was wary about taking my camera out. She says she´ll send me some, so I should have some to liven up this page with sooner or later, when she returns home in less than a week.

Deciding that I was interested in appreciating the ruins of Pisaq and Ollantantambo the next day, I asked José to walk me home, which he did even though it was less than a minute away (you can´t be too careful on Halloween!). Lottie spent her night worrying about the wereabouts of the Canadians and looking for them in various clubs. She returned home at 6am with a hangover and a tired looking José, who had in turn felt the need to look after her on her quest.
