Woke up to a much nicer day in Prague. Took the tram straight to Prague Castle and did an audio tour of the castle grounds. Saw St Vitus' Cathedral, the Castle buildings and St George's Basilica. From the castle I walked through the gardens and then headed up hill past Loreta towards the Strahov Monastery. From here there was the most amazing view of the city. Even the photos don't capture how beautiful it was. Headed down along the coppled streets towards the main town, stopping in the local shops along the way. Lots of cute little cafes and local galleries lined the street. At the bottom of the street we reached St Nicholas' Church which can be seen in all the photos from the top of the hill. Headed to the Lennon Wall which is a normal wall filled with John Lennon-inspired graffiti and lyrics. It was funny to listen to the variety of accents singing the songs. As we walked along the street Velkoprevorske Namesti, it passed over a sidearm of the Vltava River in front of a water wheel. The bridge was covered in locks which I later found out are love padlocks - aww how romantic! Finally got to the Charles Bridge which was full of people and locals selling mostly jewellery, paintings and Bohemian glass. Since it had been raining yesterday there had been places we had passed and not gotten to see too well on the tour. So we walked back down to Wenceslas Square to see the statue of Saint Wenceslas, the National Museum, State Opera House and the memorial site. Caught a train back to the hostel after that and got my bag ready to leave for Cesky Krumlov tomorrow. Then for dinner we went to a local Mexican restaurant - I come all the way to the Czech Republic to try Mexican for the first time! It was pretty good - but I really can't do HOT or spicy foods!
