Spent the whole morning in Lucerne as Zurich is only an hour by train so not too much damage there.
Mostly took pictures and bought a new hat which I've been sporting at a snazzy angle to hide the hideous (and hopefully temporary) rash on the right side of my face. Got strangely lost trying to find the stone lion landmark - I missed it by about 10 blocks, I blame it's cavalier position on the map. Bought some water from the Co-op - and damnit because I can't speak German I ended up with the fizzy kind instead of still....gah.
At the train station my day got better...I found a giant Toblerone - 4kg (see picture, although it doesn't do it justice, it was HUGE) which would set you back 112 CHF. I would have bought it honest, but Easyjet's luggage weight restrictions wouldn't have let it through. Instead I bought some Swiss chocolate knives for the guys at work. Must remember to pack them in the suitcase and not hand luggage...
My train was a double decker and I just had to sit on the top deck for the novelty value. Because I was attempting to pull off a snazzy ticket manouvre I had to compliment the guard on said train and asked him loads of questions about it. It worked. Huzzah! I can report that it is pretty much the same as a double decker bus, no added value in sitting up there. But cool anyway.

In Zurich I am staying at the Hotel Otter which has themed rooms, just like on my trip to Valencia last year. So my Xmas tradition now is themed hotel rooms. Wow. Weird. Mine isn't actually as themed as my Berlin room last year. It's on the 6th floor and the name on the door is ZURICH. Next door is the African Lodge and I've seen one called Monroe downstairs. I may have drawn the short straw. But it's pleasant, and the shower is great, and the lady on reception let me borrow an adapter without charging me 10 francs like everywhere else has, she doesn't know I'm planning to keep it for tomorrow as well, hehehehe. And free wireless! Good times!
Not much to report from Zurich...lots of planning for the next couple of days' adventures is all. And I may watch Elf to get me into the holiday spirit now.
