Where I stayed
So we left bangkok at the reasonable time of 9.45 from the bus station 10mins away from our hostel. After stocking up on supplies at the 7-11 we were away.
Bus journey was, as bus journies are, uneventful. The bus window said long live the king on it as in Thailand they really love the king. We've been caught up ina few rounds of the national anthem in our time here, as they play it in the morning and evening at pulic places. They even played a homage song at the start of slumdog millionaire in the cinema where we all had to stand up and pay respect. Tis all very nice, the Thai's'd get a shock in England me thinks!
We got to the ferry terminal at about 3ish and got on the perhaps slowest ferry in the world at 4, I swear we could have swam faster than it without breaking a sweat!
LP has failed us a bit on Ko Chang, the map is poor and the prices listed just plain wrong. We chose the busiest beach, white sand beach and took a Sangalangathaw to it. Precarious steep roads were no problem despite beeing laden down with far too many people and luggage, we even stopped to pick up more people from a different ferry when noone could really see where they'd fit.
We got off and chatted to some people with backpacks and no place booked to stay either, did the old some of us wait with bags/some of us go search for rooms trick. Apparently things arent that cheapy cheap here. We ended up staying a dodgy hotel, you had to walk through some girly bars to get to it and im not sure there were many other guests. Was not the best, the 3 people we met, (Scot, Swiss and American) moved rooms about 3 times due to dodgy locks and insects etc. But hey who needs to spend time in your room when theres beach front dining to be done!
Had a classy meal on tables on the sand ahhhh.
Spent the last few days chilling on the beach, its so hot all you can really do is sleep during the day. It's quite paradisey, palm trees and sand and the most amazing water, ahhhh
Spent the night on the beach watching the stars and drinking chang beers on ko chang, genius. We made a spectacular sand sculpture, of a ladyboy, use your imagination, was hilarious. Saw a fire based entertainment show at one of the bars too
We had the most amazing indian meal the other night, so so much food and a man did card tricks for us. Sam was his name and he was awesome, im still so confused as to how he did it!
We moved hotels to a less seedy end of town today and kepts the chilled thing going on, The new bungalow has a mosquito net, which is quite exciting really. We lost the rest of the people we met beacuse theyre going to lunar based parties, ahh good times.
Last tnight we ate at the restaurant at our new hotel and are now thinking this was perhaps a bad idea. Dodgy stomachs and all. Ahh well, to the beach!
