I was up early this morning and went up on the sandune lookout to see Uluru at sunrise.  Was pretty chilly but looked nice. Can't quite see all of Uluru from this lookout so we plan to go tomorrow to the official sunrise viewing site.

After breakfast (and a load of washing) we set off to explore.  The first thing you get to is the Park ranger Office where they relieve you of $25 per person as a visiting fee (it is valid for three days but still seems pretty rich).  Anyway, on to Uluru; which really is impressive.  It has a prescence and majesty about it.  We explored a couple of walks and drove all around it, but still the major thing about is just it being there.
Back to Yulara where we had a quick lunch and then headed off to Kata Tjuta (previously the Olgas).

We did the Valley of the Winds" walk.
7.4 km walk - rated as difficult.
It was quite challenging.  Very steep in parts, lots of loose rock and many climbs and descents.  But, well worth the effort.

The scenery is amazing and my pictures do not come close to doing it justice. We would highly recommend this walk to others.

After the walk we headed back to Uluru, just in time to catch the sunset viewing (from the official sunset viewing area).

May not be able to update the blog for a some days as we will now be heading into more remote areas which is not expected to have internet access.
