We went from small town to big big town in less than 3 hours. VIP buses rock by the way except for a trip to the loo which means trying to find a new centre of gravity! We got to Chiang Mai and jolted towards our hostel in another famous Tuk Tuk. I love them. They remind me of Octopussy and of being in Thailand before. We found home in a quiet back street that was an oasis of calm. Lovely place everyone should go there, although I can't say the same for the rest of the City, so I shan't! In short this town has been taken over by the Westerner variety that I wouldn't like to holiday with at the best of times - sorry but big guts, rude manners and ridiculous sounding English bars just don't do it for me. I think Thailand is awesome and I don't like seeing it taken over, even if in the centre of town to bring in the tourists. It was my first experience of not wanting to hear another English speaking person on this trip and I was hoping the same type of thing hadn't made to other parts of this wonderful country. We spent three days planning what to do for the next few weeks, hearing stories of Bangkok woes and eating take away pizza to avoid other parts of town. Apart from a can of cider that Dean went delirious for we watched the first English films for a while and drank too much FREE coffee. Next stop Bangkok....the journey there was supposed to be VIP, well there's VIP and there's VIP!!
