in response to emilys excellent question, why does it take so long to get from budapest to lviv?, the answer is obviously simple.
The entire mile long carridge of the  train needs to be hoisted into the air inorder to allow a new mile long set of wheels to be instated below.
Makes perfect sense to me. Infact the more I think about it, it would be foolhardy and ridiculous of me to think there is any other possibe way around this impossible quandry. I mean if the train does not fit on the tracks what else can you do. Its not like its possible to have another train waiting on the other tracks, is it!!!!!!!!!
So after another sleeper train it has become quite clear that the one thing you will find impossible to do is in fact sleep!

So lviv Budapest station

. The unpolished gem as the lonely planet puts it, I guess thats one way of descibing it. To be fair this place has history and character. I just have no way of understanding what history. No one speaks English, NO ONE!!!! . Infact this is definately a wake up call in exeriencing a little isolation. Buying food is a novelty to say the least. Food is kept behind the shelves so its point and hope. We ve had a tin of dubious fish in the cuboard for a couple of days now, lets see how hungary we get!

Have had no contact with other travellers for some time. I think its time to find an irish bar.

On the plus side their are many beautiful churches. Many, many beautiful churches. Infact there are dozens and dozens of beautiful churches. So have been here a while seen a few churches pointed at some food items and saved quite a lot of money, ahhhh the romance of travelling.

One week away from the great trans siberian rail route, kiev first, here we come!
