I can't believe the last entry is from November...........what can I say, or what excuses can I come up with this time......
To cut a long story short, no woodwork has been acheived. The nearest I came was in Hampi, India when a stone carver offered to teach me first in stone (a very rock based place Hampi) and then in wood. Slight problem was I would need to stay around for a month....well this wasn't happening and off we went.
I had applied for some funding from the British council to do a project related to Darwin for his 200th anniversary but found out recently I wasn't successful. This would have paid for work related to wood called 'Hardwired for Lignin'. This was gutting, especially as they delayed the outcome for months longer then originally presented........boo boo Brit Council. Anyhow work I was going to do in Kerala and Tamil Nadu came to nought as well. So what is the world of trees trying to tell me exactly....keep off, this isn't for you, do something else....I don't know. All I know is that I still want to do more with wood.
Lately I've been so impressed by the wood carving and furniture decoration I've seen. And if I can't do it on my travels then I can definitely bring back some new ideas to make into pieces when I return. So Anne get ready for Asian framed mirrors, clothes stands and screens coming into the workshop.
My last hope is Northern India and Nepal.....so we'll see.
