This morning Ivan, Igor, Emily and myself packed into my dad's car and headed towards the south potion of Taiwan via east coast. The first stop on our journey was Taroko Gorge, best known for its marble cliffs and deep gorges carrying river Liwu. It did not take us very long to realize why the gorge is a premier tourist attraction in Taiwan. Just before leaving the area we visited the Changchun Shrine built in memory of the men who lost their lives constructing a near by highway.

Later in the day we made a short stop in Hualien City to check out a temple before proceeding further south in search of a place to crash for the night. Luckily Marko came prepared on this trip and using this 1999 version of Lonely Planet he was able to find a quiet hot springs resort surrounded by mountains where the crew to spend the night.

However, before calling it a night we inquired the resort owner about food and he gladly offered to drive us into a nearby town to feast on some of the best Taiwanese food. If that was not enough, after the meal the owner Lee took us the local night market prior to treating us to a delicious cup of tea (cold of course). Lastly, we returned to the beautiful resort and enjoyed the hot springs while sipping on Japanease best, Asahi beer.
