Severely jetlagged and battered from the constant humidity factor of 100% I somehow found the strength to head off to the downtown core to do a bit of exploring. My dad and I began with a walk through one of several underground malls which are nothing more than a tunnel connecting key points within the downtown core. The shops sell pretty much everything you don't actually need so we quickly walked through and found ourselves by the Taiwan Museum. The museum was nothing to write home about, but it did have a very detailed history of this little island. Best part about the museum visit was Peace Park located behind the museum among the rest of highly developed neighborhood. I for some reason had the desire to visit Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei which proved to be a poor decision. I am a big fan of paintings and sculptures, but for the life of me I can not understand this media art where odd and disturbing images are flashed in front of your face in combination with obnoxious, loud sounds causing one to have a seizure. For all those art fans that I offended, come to Taipei to see a 5 minute long video showing the life of a soap bar. On our way home we decided to swing by the Grand Hotel which to a tourist like myself would not come across as a place offering accommodation. Never the less it is a site well worth seeing in person.
