What I did
am headed towards Lancaster. I was surprising not sad leaving.
Thankfully, my brother and my dad said goodbye to me while I was
sleeping so that was easy :) I slept a little in the car, but mostly
called the bank and Verizon to get everything in order. This is all
boring so ill skip to the good part. We take off from Philly at 6:30 pm
and found that we had unlimited entertainment. I tried to sleep but I
was distracted by ravioli, Friends episodes, and Perk of Being a
Wallflower (finally watched it Jill)
were going to take an express method to get to our next gate because we
were running late. Well, this didn't work so we missed our flight from
London to Rome. Luckily we were able to get on the next plane which
took off at 10:30 London time, so 3 hours later. I was able to nap in
the airport, but I kept waking up because I was afraid someone would
take our stuff. This is where I realized that I left the journal that
Angele gave me in the Philly airport, so that was a bummer as well.
Better that than my passport though I guess! British Airways gave us a
voucher for 5 GBP so we got toasties (paninis) and porridge (oatmeal).
Finally got on the plane, slept the whole way. Then came Rome. Instead
of taking a train to the Rome train station, we were told by some local
Italians that it would be cheaper and quicker to take a shuttle..
against by better judgement we did. It was probably ten girls and an
italian driver, but it was cool to see a lot of Rome while we were
traveling through. Then when we finally arrived at the train station it
was complete chaos. I had NO IDEA where to go and I'm usually pretty
good at figuring that stuff out. We asked some Italian cops for help,
and finally found our way and were Firenze bound. Once we arrived there,
I felt much more comfortable and safe and instantly loved the city.
When we arrived at our apartment we met our 5 other roommates, sarah,
Amy, Chelsea, Sam, Rachel, and Brittany. Five are from uconn, and one
is from UVA. The apartment is huge. It is basically three suites put
together into one apartment, and we have a view from the Duomo from our
around the Duomo before turning in for the night. Oh and I had gelato
for the first time. Caffe and dark chocolate (I can't remember the
Italian name). Most people talk to us in English which surprises me,
but I haven't ran into any big language barriers yet. So once we
finally arrived in Florence things were looking much more positive! Chao
