Entry #3
Yesterday was the first tour I had to lead alone and everything went well! Only two tourists participated on my graffiti tour because it's a long walk and the weather was not that good (it was snowing a lot). The 2 girls were from Spain and Germany and seemed really interested. They are both here to improve their English so I felt confortable with them.

Yesterday was also my first day as the boss! I worked in the office from 10:00am to 5:00pm and had various tasks: I went to the printing office, updated schedules, assisted a meeting, answered the phone and e-mails, etc. I really enjoy it!

Moreover, during one of our managers meetings, I had a huge decision to make. 2 people were against having graffiti on one of the outside walls of our hostel, but 2 people were for the idea. Both sides explained their arguments and I had to decide!! I was for the idea, so we are going to have one soon.

Unfortunately, the kitchen of the hostel was closed yesterday so we had to go to the restaurant. Charles, Luke (from Australia), Conall (from Ireland) and myself went to an "all you can eat restaurant" called Spring rolls. I would be fine not eating for 2 days, and the guys all ate way more than me!! There were so much food and we had to eat everything or pay for the waste. It was a really nice place, but I forgot to take picture inside...

A lot of weird aventures also happened to me this week:

-I escaped from Caleb, a guy who wanted to go on date with me! The thing is that he was really cute, but wanted me to meet him in a scary place late at night to go to the movie theater. So I decided (with Charles' approval, thanks Charles!) that it was better for me to stay at the hostel! Who knows, maybe I escaped a rape or even my death! Or just a really handsome guy...

-I met an old lady at Starbucks who said I had a nice Calgary Flames t-shirt (it was Montreal Canadiens actually)

-Same place, same day, I met a 50 years old man from Montreal who invited me to a bar where I could watch Montreal hockey games in French (Unfortunately, I'm not drinking age and I would never have gone there with him!)

-There is a creepy weird guy at the hostel who actually looks too much at me and the guys are teasing me with that, but tonight the guy came and sat next to me! It was so hilarous, I had to leave because I was laughing too much. He has been wearing the same dirty clothes since his arrival.

-There is a new sign in my bedroom (it's the only room of the hostel who has it) saying that we can't flush the toilet after 11:00 pm, because it's too noisy. What about people who are snoring? That's way more noise!

- I lost my passkey of the hostel and one of the girls at the front desk was really mad at me! Now, I have a solution so that it won't happen again. (see pictures)

I'll come back to you soon, with some other crazy adventures!

A pretty strange week for you :p But I really like your idea for your keycard.Maybe I will use this one someday. I don't know if it's hard to be guide in a such big city . Probably a lot and I'm realy glad that you success at this :)

emilielev on

YEs, that is what is fun with my job: I get to discover the city for free or almost :) But it's not that hard because I don't guide tour of the city, I guide activities that I have interest in ex.: graffiti tour, queen park tour, art gallery tour, hockey hall of fame!
