Monday was my first official day at my job in the hostel and that is where I learned the tasks I'll have to do for the next 2 months. Jacqui, who is one of the three managers of the hostel, is actually training me. For what? To replace her, starting from next week and for a duration of 5 weeks as she is going on vacation in Australia.

What does it mean? Basically, I will be one of the three bosses of the hostel and I will be completely in charge of the activities and entertainment here. What a bunch of responsibility! I can't believe they are trusting me like that!! I need to manage volunteers, train new ones, follow a budget, update the facebook page & website, etc.

The biggest part of my job is actually to lead tours and organize activities for the guests in the hostel. I need to have a least 4 activities in our weekly schedule. For the moment, I will take the lead of our graffiti tour, start a new one in Toronto's Chinatown, organise a museum day (Queen park & Art Gallery of Ontario) and finally the last one is going to change each week (It might be the Hockey Hall of Fame, movie theater, etc.). Jacqui wanted to add a little challenge to my job, so I also have to organize a big party while she is not here.

I'm working at least 6 hours a day, every day of the week but I can take days off as I want, as long as the work is done. I might go to Niagara Falls soon during one of my breaks but I want to wait for the weather to warm up!

I think they like me here because they offered me a paid summer job today. If I didn't already had one in Quebec, I would surely have said yes! So, they want me to work for them next summer, what an interesting idea!

Oh my god! I can't believe that they trust you to be one of the bosses. Not because you are bad (not at all!) but because you are new and only there for two months... Wow! Good luck :P

That's very nice for you to be trusted like that! How do you feel about this new city? I mean, Is there a lot of difference from Quebec city? Well, I hope you'll have a nice trip!

Your work seems very fun. You must have several tasks to take care, but you should be proud because of your bosses' trust towards you. Do Hostels are different than here in Canada? Have a good trip !

THat's seem nice nice toronto, but it is hard to lead and guide people in this huge city? I heard that their is a lot ethinical people, in fact more than 50% of the population have others origine than canada.
Is it stressfull when you guide the people into the city, I mean, do you have give a wrong information to your clients?
Anyway, i hope you enjoy your trip.

If you work for them for the next summer will you still be one of the bosses? Enjoy your trip!

No, if I work next summer I would be a receptionist, not the boss :)

@ Alkyrire it's not that hard because I don't lead tour for people of the city, it's for the guests of the hostel and most of them don't speak a perfect English neither! And I got trained well, so I'm not afraid of giving wrong information. When I don't know, I tell them the truth: I don't know! Bettter than giving false information!
