Finca Ixobel is a huge place in the middle of lots of greenery and is really nice. It is owned by an American women whose husband got assassinated here in the 90s (I think). It seems really nice and chilled out here. We were sposed to stay in a treehouse but due to the pounding rain and muddy fields opt for a room instead which is nice, although everything feels damp due to the climate.
We sit around the rest of the day reading, playing table tennis, willing for dinner to start (food was great and healthy!) and chatting to another British guy. Unfortunately the rain never lets up.
Wake up when for what must be ten minutes the rain stops in the night. By morning it has started again. Real shame as we wanted to do the cave trip here and some of the nearby walks. Instead we spend the day going positively stir crazy. We really are no good at sitting still. Read, cards, scrabble, table tennis, a brief walk, food, trip planning, bag sorting. We have decided to leave as we canīt bear such British weather. However, they are unable to get through to the bus station so we spend all afternoon not knowing if we are going or not and hoping we are. Not that we donīt love Guatemala but the weather has deteriorated as time has gone by here. We were due to go to Semuc Champey (some great rivers and natural swimming pools) and then Coban but have instead decided to just try and find some sun and go to El Salvador.
Our later afternoon is brightened up by the arrival of a Dragoman truck! We are reminded of our time with them in June/July and chat to the leaders of this trip about our leaders and what they are up to now. Plus quiz them about the rest of our route and future trips!
We find out we have got a bus out and are relieved although it is at 23,45. Taxi picks us up and we duly get our bus with Linea Dorada in a very cramped bus to GC.
