Arrived in Nazca at 5.15am after a good nights sleep and got a taxi to the airstrip. They let us wait in one of the offices until they opened and we then started negotiating with the various companies. Had read we could do a flight for 60 Soles or 10 quid on the internet but prices ranged from 40 to 70 dollars which was not quite the same!

We uhmmed and aahed for ages about what to do esp as the weather was quite misty. Then we saw the first flight come back and all the passengers had been sick as the plane banks left and right to cross the lines. In the meantime we had watched an interesting video on the lines inc theories behind them etc from terrestrial landings to processional lines to pray for rain or divine interference.

We eventually decided to save our money and move onto Pisco instead. Back to the bus station and the next bus out, prob our quickest visit to a town on our trip!

A few hours later in Pisco, a biggish town which is ok but not great. We got a taxi from the Pan American highway the great and very straight road (mainly) up most of the west coast of S America into town to Hostal La Portada. Got a lovely room with comfy bed and tv etc for 40 Soles. Am starting to get used to nice rooms at last!

Then went to a restaurant recommended in our book for seafood (cant remember name sorry) a bit out of town. Ordered deep fried mixed seafood (healthy again) and scallops with parmesan. MASSIVE portions and was absolutely delicious. Plus a free pisco sour. Were very happy but had to walk for a while afterwards to digest it all!

Not much to see in the town we just booked our tour for tomorrow and looked at a few shops before chilling in front of the tv for the night watching the only English programme we could find which was a surreal film. I was asleep again by 9pm though am becoming a complete lightweight.
