Woken up by Javier at 6.30am and had pancakes for breakfast which were great. Feel a lot better today and enjoyed our walk in the sunshine back down to the port. Sad to leave the island as it is beautiful and made me think of Tuscany despite the fact I have never been there!

All got back on the boat for our hour trip to Taquile another smaller natural island which was also beautiful. Had to walk up hill for a bit to get to the main square where we could see the different local dress as men wear different hats depending on their social status e.g. red and white if single to a multi coloured woolen hat plus a black almost cowboy like hat if they are a married leader. Turns out you cant do a lot here unless you are married in terms of earning money or becoming a leader so people marry in their earlyish twenties. Town square is nice and we surreptitiously tried to take photos as if the locals see you they want a tip. Then more up hill to be shown more about the local people before an early lunch and then we went down 500 steps with a fabulous view of the terraces and the lake back to the boat managing to avoid buying any jewelery on the way down.

Another 3 hours back to Puno before we left the lakeside and headed to the bus station to buy our tickets for Cusco tomorrow (half the price than buying at the tour agencies in town). Then back to our hotel again and more blogging and internet as unlikely we will do for a while as we plan our trek to the infamous Macchu Picchu - cant wait!

Bye for now!
