Arrived an hour or so late and not at the bus terminal as the bus broke down again and we had no idea where we were. The bus driver refused to pay for our taxi into town but got us a cheapish one (2 quid for all of us) to Illampu the main travelly hangout it would appear.

On our way into town we descended down very steep roads and the view of the city was amazing. It is completely unlike anywhere else I have seen in a huge basin surrounded by snow covered mountains. Was beautiful in the morning light. After spending a while finding somewhere to stay we all went for Hotel Continental and its penthouse apartment for 50 bolivianos each (about 4 quid each a night) where we have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and kitchen. Cant complain.

We are now planning our next days trips and hoping that the road blockade which is currently taking place in Copacabana (our next stop on Lake Titicaca) ends soon. Apparently all the locals are blocking the road as they want their priest to leave for keeping local donations for himself and not giving them to the town. Fingers crossed as we were looking forward to spending a few days trekking around here.

Some other GOOD news! Daves dad is definitely coming to see us next month in Chile for a couple of weeks which will be great. I am still hoping that we will get to Antarctica but most trips seem to be about $4,000 which is a bit hard to justify. If anyone knows of any cheap ones let us know!!

Ciao for now!
