Arrived in Foz de Iguacu early afternoon by plane (flew with Gol via Curitiba = was cheaper to fly onto Foz than get off there??). Arrived about 13.30 and got bus into town. Met a local tour guide who helped us find a hotel at a good price (guide book v out of date again!) and are staying at Hotel San Marco for 55 Reais a night. Dumped our stuff and made our way to the bus station to get the bus to the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls.

Got bus marked Parque Nacional which goes via the airport to the main entrance and paid our 20 pesos each to get in. Then got on a double decker bus to one of the main stops and walked towards the falls. We were a bit apprenhensive at this point as we had heard that the falls were suffering from limited water at the moment due to the worst drought here in 20 years. As we approached we were a little disappointed at first as could only see a few wispy falls over the huge cliff faces which look like they are normally completely covered in water. As we walked further round though we saw a lot more water and were impressed! The falls are so huge and are not in a straight line so give the wrong impression at first. Took loads of photos from the bottom cat walks and then walked further round to see the most impressive sides near the bus terminal. Then got the lift up to the top of the falls to see it from another perspective. Not too many people around despite it being a Sunday which was nice. We stayed at the top and watched the sunset over the river below us. Then got the very cold open topped bus back and made our way home.

Went to a nearby churrascaria for dinner which was only 12 reais and v yummy too. No way are ever going to lose weight at this rate.
