Yesterday am headed down to the new town to Lan Chile in vain attempt to change our tickets but canīt are getting very frustrated trying to sort it out and resigned ourselves to trying to do it in Rio now. (are trying to change our RTW tickets so we can go back north in S America and then to the south so we avoid the cold winter there).

Then checked out of hotel (which was incredibly noisy at night by the way - very loud music from surrounding bars) and got bus to Barra. This is a suburb of Salvador on the coast and quite small. Has a nice beach and a lighthouse and then quite a few hotels. Checked in here and wandered a bit - were going to spend some time on the beach but is cloudy and rainy today!

Later on went for a walk down the beach and admire the views before dinner and then Capirinha in a bar overlooking the sea. Little did we know at the same time as we were drinking that my sister, Lucy, had just given birth to Lily Walker (8lbs 8oz) after being very late! Found out this morning when checked our email for the hundredth time in about 2 weeks!! Very relieved and happy that all is well but wish we were at home to see them all. See photos!

Today have not done much apart from internet to catch up on the latest from home and ring via skype as is raining again and I have another tummy bug. Are flying to Rio tonight (with Ocean Air) and staying in an apartment there in Copacabana which should be fun!
