Still the longest day of our life

Flight left at about 17.00 and as we were crossing the international date line (first time ever!) we actually arrived at Santiago at midday the same day. Flight was good esp the entertainment system prob best ever had (flying with Lan Chile) with big tv screens at back of seat and loads of films, CDs and games to choose from and can start/stop them whenever you want. Managed to sleep a bit but had to drag ourselves off the plane. At Santiago airport we had to wait a few hours for our flight to Isla de Pascua (Easter Island). Basically were going pretty much half the way back to where we came from but no direct flights from NZ to it. Flight was going on to Tahiti too so half of the passengers sat in the international departure lounge while we were in the national one (first time had seen that - know I am sad). All got on plane and then were promptly told was a technical problem so all trundled off again and waited a couple of hours with intermittent info to see if we would go and when. Were contemplating changing our flights as were only going for such a short time and wanted to make the most of it and had fears flight would be delayed 24 hours or similar. Fortunately though plane was sorted and got back on for 5 1/2 flight. By this time were a bit tired and were on our 6th meal (well we were up for 42 hours).
