A great camping spot apart from some drunken louts coming home at 3am it is well recommended! We left to go and use Matt and Cath's 'facilities' in their hotel - was v nice and said our goodbyes.

The weather was attempting to clear up so we went down to the Tongariro National Park to try and do a walk and hope that we might at least see some of the nearby volcanoes. After consulting the tourist office we decided to do the Taranaki Falls walk so we would at least see something that the cloud would not obscure! Half way around the walk though we noticed the cloud was lifting so waited for a bit and sure enough 2 volcanoes were revealed! Mt Ruapehu covered in snow and the infamous, traditional cone-shaped Mt Ngauruhoe which also had a lead role in Lord of the Rings as Mount Doom. I have no doubt that Dave will upload the silly pic of me pretending to be Froddo with Mount Doom in the background. Were really pleased to see them both as have a fascination with volcanoes and they were amazing.

The falls were pretty good to and after our walk it started to drizzle so we headed west for our next adventure - to Waitomo. Dave wanted to do a trip over there and it was cheap hence we drove a couple of hours and parked near the caves for the night.
