(Em still here)
Got the train from Perth to Fremantle (about 30 mins away) which is right on the coast and is even smaller than Perth. Is a lovely little town with more colonial style buildings. Staying at 'The Old Fire Station' hostel which is exactly that and is ok. Spend the day wandering round the town, buying more food for a picnic and trying to find camping supplies for the next bit of our journey. That night go to the 'Sail and Anchor' pub for a pint (is a micro brewery with good, if expensive, beer) and then to a Romanian/Italian Restaurant where we byo wine. Lovely evening and am shattered by about 9.30 (have seriously become a lightweight)
Next morning wake up with my first hangover of the trip which is worrying after such little alcohol. Wander round the harbour area and beach which is lovely. Have to go into Perth again today to get our Doctor's results which we are both a bit nervous about although I feel virtually 100%, Dave still feels a bit odd. Go to the docs and get the all clear which is a relief although decide to put Dave on a third course of antibiotics just to make sure. The doctor also says that "Dave looks awful and like he has been ill" whereas "Emma looks great". You can only imagine how many times I repeated that over the course of the day. We then spend a while trying to sort out getting some money back for the tests/treatment which is not cheap and go to the Australian 'Medicare' office where we get about 60% reimbursement due to reciprocal agreement with the UK. Is a great relief as insurance would have taken ages to sort out, etc. Much as the treatment was good out here etc, it still makes me think how lucky we are to have a simple and effective system in the NHS (plug over). Eventually get back to Fremantle and chill on the Esplanade (park) in the sun are setting up for a festival this weekend which Jamie Culum is playing at. Back to hostel for free internet and get a cheap curry from the Indian downstairs before an early night (although have to work 'The Biggest Loser' again, oh and Neighbours!).
