Luang Prabang

Think we entered LP in the best way possible - by air at sunset. We cruise through the valleys over the river as the sun is at its reddest and the mountains look absolutely beautiful. Know we are going to like it here!

Before we get to like it though we spend a good hour traipsing around LP to find somewhere to stay that is either not full or v expensive - you could really go wild here if you wanted to. Whilst resisting the urge to not be complete traveller cheapskates we also want to get value for money and eventually we find somewhere near the centre for $7 a night which seems v new and clean - Salanphet Guest House. After dumping our stuff we head for a much-needed Beer Lao and some food - Lao food is again quite Thai influenced and we have a nice meal - tam maak hung (minced chicken with lime, chillies and garlic and some fermented lettuce leaves) and a Lao chicken curry with sticky rice. After a few beer lao we sleep v well esp as its a bit cooler here.
