Today was a day of walking.
We got up early (around 7:30 - incredible I know) and began back at Tian'anmen square for a quick look at another Communist leader's waxwork (Mao). On from there into the Forbidden City (which is pretty huge) for a wander around. After the Forbidden city, we walked around some Hutongs (narrow, windy, backstreets) which have incredibly survived so close to the centre, watched some Chinese Dominoe games (got very heated) and went for lunch on Qinhai lake (v. resonable restaurant called South Silk Road) and finally went up into Jingshan Park to try and catch the sunset over Beijing. We then walked through some food night markets (see photos), but so far have declined from eating the Starfish, Seahorses, Scorpions or Snakes! We actually went for a traditional Bejing Roast Duck which was very nice but very rich!
