After another 30 hours on the train, we have finally completed the Trans-Siberian (well trans-Mongolian for the picky) portion of our trip and have arrived in Beijing. The border crossing was fairly smooth and the bogie changing (with us still on board) was surprisingly efficient! The scenery through this journey changed from fairly desolate (Gobi desert) to magnificent views as we got our first glimpses of the great wall from the train window. Upon arrival in Beijing, we took a few photos of the group who have been travelling the same route and who we bumped into around the Mongolian section of the trip. Great fun was had trying to set-up about 6 camera for a single self-timed group shot - imagine the running to get into the picture!
Off to our Hostel to freshen up and begin to explore one of the largest cities on earth! We went to Tian'anmen Square and timed it well to watch the daily flag lowering (at sunset) after which we went expolring the SanLitun area of town and ended up at a wonderful Thai Restaurant (Serve the People).
