We arrived safe and sound last night and on time.
Got picked up from the airport and taken to our homestay not far from the centre of St Petersburg. Are staying with a widow called Irina who is very nice and cooks great food for us. Any attempt that we may have to lose weight in the next year will not succeed if the last 24 hours are anything to go by. The food is delicious. Had an early night last night and went out this morning and got the Metro (costs 20p to go anywhere here) to Nevsky Prospekt the main street and then have been on a wander and to the Hermitage today which is amazing. Weather is absolutely freezing. Was -36 yesterday apparently but is warm today at -25! We are wearing most of our clothes and have felt fine. Just have to go in the odd church every now and again to defrost a bit!
Once we find a cafe with photos will try and upload some (if our camera defrosts too!) Take care all and keep in touch!
