I have finally wrestled control of this site from Dave for a few moments so thought I would write a bit about how I'm feeling before we go as it may be of some interest to someone!
Firstly, thought I should say that we are doing this blog for a variety of reasons - obviously for family and friends to keep in touch etc but also for us to look back on one day. It also will hopefully be of some use to other travellers who might be going to some of the places we are so please excuse us if some of the info included seems a bit unnecessary. Have also just found out that a family friend who is a teacher will be getting her class to follow us on our trip as part of their studies - that may impact the photos we upload! Will send the sign up link to the credit card subscription site separately :) Have now recovered from our leaving do (I think) - it was great to see everyone and as the photos show everyone seemed to have a good time. Thanks to everyone that came along and apologies for my dancing (I blame Ash)! Sunday was a relatively slow start as you can probably imagine and then Lucy, Mark and Freddie came over (my sister, brother in law and nephew) came round for lunch and to say goodbye (see photo). I managed to hold it together (almost) but am going to miss them loads especially my little Freddie. Its his first birthday in a few weeks time too. Today we have been starting to pack properly and sort out the final bits of paperwork etc that need doing which is pretty dull to be honest but spose I shouldn't complain! Hoping to meet up with a few mates who couldn't make Sat night tomorrow evening in town. Need to buy a few more things for the trip and sort out some other bits and bobs before we finally go on Thursday morning. Am feeling a bit mixed about the trip at the moment although am a lot better since we went to the Travel Show on Friday. Must admit was having second thoughts about it all the last few weeks as it is quite daunting, particularly leaving everyone for a year. Having said that I know it will fly by and I will regret it if we don't do it - after all its only a year not a lifetime. Since the travel show have focused a lot more on what we are going to be doing and seeing and am getting really excited now despite the odd blip when saying goodbye to people. It doesn't seem entirely real yet and probably won't until we get on the flight on Thursday. My only real fear now is of spending the whole 12 months with Dave...........but am sure you can all understand that. Only joking, am really looking forward to us doing this together, I suspect it will be the best decision we have ever made. I hope that we manage to restrain ourselves from murdering each other once we have been cooped up in a train carriage for 3 days continously with only snow as a view (I predict that diary entry will be posted in about 10 days time - so watch this space!) Just hope we have everything we will need now - although we should have since we have bought most of the contents of Boots - shame I have no room for clothes. Hopefully we won't get stopped at any borders for the amount of drugs we are carrying. Anyway thats enough for now. Next update could well be when we are on the road. So look forward to hearing from you all and letting us know when/where you are going to meet us. Take care!
