Across to Spain for about a week to spend New Year with Jane and Dave's Parents.
Had been dreading the cold weather since Jane announced that Spain in the Winter isn't all its cracked up to be and that her appartment without central heating actually gets quite cold during the nights!
Luckily, Jane heeded the early warnings and got a wood burning stove and a few electric rads installed in time to make the visit less like Siberia than we will be doing in Jan.
The weather was excellent with most days being hot enough to sit out during lunch on Jane's roof terrace with temperatures reaching mid-20's.
Unfortunately for much of the time over there, one or more of us had one bug or another ranging from flu, coughs, cold, allergies to Jane's 3 cats, ... which probably kept the whole proceedings a little more muted than they could have been.
New Years Eve was interesting to say the least - Euro pop blaring out in one of Olivas many Chinese Restaurants (Hong Kong). With a mixed clientele and a requirement to eat 12 grapes on the "dongs" leading up to midnight!
The highlight (for mum at least) was the 4.95 Euro 3 course lunch including half a carafe of wine we had together in Javea on Dad's Birthday at a place called Scallops at a great location at one end of the beach.
Off back to the UK for another packed few days of visiting people and sorting out our final 2 weeks before the trip.
