Indian Boys
I've taken a few days off from posting to the travelogue. That could be a good sign, meaning I'm not chained to my computer as much, or it could be a really bad sign-- that I'm so miserable that I've given up all contact with the outside world. Or perhaps, my life isn't interesting enough to write about.I'm going to say that all three are true. There were a few days where I was definitely bluer than blue, depressed and bored. Then I was busy, out and about (thank goodness!) exploring the city, and most recently, I've been around but somehow my computer has become the public apartment computer, which means that usually when I want to use it, someone else is typing on it. (I know, I'm a big doormat. Please, walk all over me).
What have I been up to, you ask. Well, I went out dancing one night and ended up back at someone's house where there was a bunch of gay men and a bunch of coke. That was fun! (There's sarcasm there that you can't hear)
I
On the red carpet for Indian Oscar
had my first brush with Bollywood as I got to walk the red carpet of the Indian equivalent of the Oscars (an hour BEFORE it actually started) and met the Indian equivalent of Brad Pitt, Shahrukh Khan (You may have never heard of him, but 3.6 billion people have, giving him the honor of being, according to Time magazine, "the world's most recognizable actor" Who would have thought?) I had been called in last minute to replace someone-- you know, those girls that stand on the stage and usher the actors on or off. Alas, at the last second, the real person appeared, so I didn't get to do the job. Just as well, it would have been an evening of listening to people talk in Hindi and being surrounded by famous Indians when I have no idea who they are. (Although, I would have loved to have seen Aishwarya Rai)Don't let it fool you...
On Sunday morning, we had a fancy brunch at a seaside restaurant.
Looks like Goa
All of the models from the agency were invited, and it ended up being a cheesy press event, with lots of photo ops. Afterwards, I headed to the market, and then to the movies to see _Bridge to Terabithia_.I'm working on making new friends as well-- I met a girl here on a Fulbright scholarship studying art in Bombay, and another girl from Canada writing a screenplay based here. Hopefully I'll have someone to hang out with soon.

Hi Elise
what's Bollywood like
is it high energy over there
Oh my gosh!
I've been reading all of your adventures and I know that you will value this experience in the future. Although you are in culture shock, you'll eventually adjust. It sounds as though you are terribly lonely and I wish you had Cody to keep you company! Ha! Your scenic pictures are beautiful! Just think...you'll eventually get to come back to the good ole' USA, think of those folks that are to be there forever....Now you know why people clamor to come to our country.
Please know that we are all sooo proud of you! I am very envious and wish I could be there to share in your adventures! Remenber all things happen for a reason! Keep your beautiful chin up(with the cleft)!
and keep on documenting...believe me your life is much more exciting than mine! :) Smiles!
We love you..Stay safe!
Aunt Celeste and the rest of the gang!
