A quick self-made breakfast: yoghurt with fresh fruit, the one and only Kellog's corn flakes, a guava juice, ... Cleaning up, a shower and by 8.15 I was ready to leave!
Today it was all gravel road...the first part through a park without fences. I saw oryx, ostrich, zebra, springbok, vultures, eagles, ... A second part was a scenic route along the desert. The colours of the desert are amazing! It changes all the time!
After a 5 hours drive I ended up @ Klein Aus Vista where I met up with Piet. The afternoon is a relaxing one while @ 6.00 Piet will guide me on a mountainbike trip
Mmm, bad experience, after +/- 1 km I crashed...Piet told me it was very spectacular! We were just catching up and because of the breeze I didn't hear exactly what Piet was asking, so I asked him once again, went a bit closer and was not 100% concentrated. We were going down on a gravel road against 40 km/h. I came in a spot of loose sand and hup, there I went, catapulted in the air, landing on shoulder and helmet. When I got up Piet said that this was bad for the bike. I didn't realise immediately, but the frontwheel was completely bended :-(.
The frontwheel is already on the way to Windhoek for repair or replacement and in 2 days I should have it back. So tomorrow maybe a training with one Piet his bikes and in 2 days one with my own bike. I extensed my stay here with 1 day!
To heal the wound a bit I took a Cederberg wine...the 3 days race I will do is in the Cederberg area ;-).
Oh yes...Carlos, my new Spanish friend, arrived also here. Catching up again, cool!
