After cheking out it was time to move (Move - H-Blockx) on. I was supposed to meet (Meet you halfway - Black Eyed Peas) Dirk and Sigi at the campsite, but we found out we wanted to visit the same places. So we were gonna try to meet up faster as originally planned, but it was back to the good old days while we did not have constantly reception.
After a ride of 170-180 km I arrived at Twyfelfontein...and yes not even 5 min later I saw Dirk and Sigi arriving. We visited Twyfelfontein, Organ Pipes, Burned Mountain (Mountains - Emeli Sande) and Petrified Forest. After that we had to do another 120 km on gravel to reach the campsite. We almost had goat for the braai, while a little goat decided to cross the road just when Dirk passed
After a short night we prepared a full breakfast: fruit salad, cereals, juice, italian coffee, yoghurt, ... Great! We decided to make it a relaxing day. Dirk and Sigi were spending time on the sundeck near the swimming pool and I did repair the damages on the bikebox to make sure my bike can make it back to Belgium (Come to Belgium - Channel Zero) in that box. After repairing the box I mounted the bike so it's ready to use!
Around 15.30 we were ready for a cold beer and to start the braai slowly (Slowly slowly - Magnapop). And yes the rain decided to slow us down for sure...so we got a short heavy shower for 20-30 minutes. And after that experience I do realise that rivers can swallow very fast but dry afterwards as fast as it swallows.
We decided also not to stay a third night on this campsite and to move on closer to Etosha National Park. By doing that I can spend 2 days @ Etosha in the hope to see lots of wild animals
So this is it for Dec 30, I need a good rest to prepare the first training.
So, waking up at 7.30 finally, packing everything and having a quick breakfast. By 9.10 I was ready for my first training on Namibian terrain and in Namibian sun. I left the campsite and Dirk and Sigi were gonna pick me up... Because they planned to leave at 9.30 I started on high speed, what I did not know is that they decided to take it easy while my ride was gonna be too short. So finally they caught me after I did +/- 40 km! It was a nice ride...saw some animal tracks on my way. I even think I saw lion tracks...the day before they told us that lions in this area caught some horses.
Finally we got to our lodge, had some drinks and around 17.00 we visited Himba-people, traditional people from this part of Namibia. Now having cocktails and waiting for the New Years dinner.
No reception here...so to all of you: Happy New Year!!!
