I started my day at 6 am on Friday, preparing myself for a day of witnessing hundreds of circumcisions and pulled teeth. Not exactly the usual Friday, or any day in my book.
Friday was the VFV Annual Medical Mission, which each year provides hundreds of free medical services to low income individuals. Almost every year VFV provides circumcisions as it is something culturally supported yet not routine at birth. This year they additionally provided dental assessments, mostly involved pulling teeth.
My original job was to man the projection screen, but when we arrived at the venue there really wasn't a place to do a projection so I ended up helping here and there doing various things
There were 7 doctors performing circumcisions on Friday and by lunch they were to number 93. I was still feeling quite under the weather all morning and after eating my lunch I felt worse rather than better. I fell asleep in our jeepney for about 20 minutes before Ate Wim woke me and told me her husband was leaving in their car if I wanted to just go home. I clearly had a fever so I took her up on the offer. I slept from 3 pm to 7 pm...woke up for dinner and spent the evening in bed. I am really hoping I can kick this illness, as I am really running out of time here!
I swung by the construction site on the way home and I was happy to see them pouring the second floor columns!
