Hello Everyone,

Tuesday was a crazy day for me in Cangumbang. The cement mixer arrived before I did in the morning and by the time I got there they were pouring the 5th column for the center. We were out of coco lumber so the delivery that was supposed to come in the morning was my first priority. The workers took their lunch a bit early because they literally have no more work until the coco lumber arrived. Thankfully, right before they finished lunch it came, all 250 pieces of it. So they continued through the afternoon building the frames for the columns while I purchased more sand, gravel, steel rods, and cement. Even after purchasing 100 bags of cement, we are down to 22!

Things are moving so quickly the hardware store can hardly keep up with us! But after the main cement slabs are laid it will be more of a waiting game; we can't exactly make them dry any quicker! Hopefully the quick pace can help us cut out a lot of labor costs in the end though.

Busy, busy, busy.  More pictures to come later!

Mom on

Can the Coco lumber be re-used on another house or something when they need to build post forms again?

Do all the children in the community help? Or is it just the little ones who aren't in school" They are SO cute, working so hard and carrying the bags of sand to help.

Yes we will reuse the coco lumber for making benches and other beginner furniture. It can't be used structurally because coco lumber deteriorates quickly during the construction process since it is constantly being weathered. The previous landowner will also use the coco lumber to rebuild her home, because we will have to knock down a portion of it in the process of building the center.

All the children help regardless of age, they are all finished with school for the year now!
