Today I will depart England and head to Tacloban. The journey will be over 24 hours, but worth it all the same. I am excited to get back in to life in the Philippines and begin contributing to the progression of the project first hand.
Currently, the new director of Volunteer for Visayans, Wimwim, is working on many land related preparations for the project. The Department of Agriculture must reclassify the land for the project, as it is currently for agricultural use. The land must be subdivided as we are not by the entire property owned by the land owner. Back taxes on the land must be paid off in order for the title to be transferred to Volunteer for Visayans. The engineer is working on building plans and preparing the materials needed to submit a building permit for approval. So lots of things are in motion and the project is moving forward.
I ask that all of you keep the people of Cangumbang in your prayers, as floods are inevitable and may strike the area before the center can be completed. They have hope for the future, but enduring the floods until the center is built will not be easy.
I will update all of you once I am settled in, in Tacloban. Thank you again for all of your support and email me with any questions.
