The building plans are being officially drawn up this week, although the processing of land ownership paperwork is still in progress. The center will include multiple common rooms for special activities and housing of the community during the floods. There will be a few rooms for adventurous volunteers who wish to stay in the center while they participate in projects in the area. The center will include a kitchen which will not only be highly valuable during times of flood, but it will also help provide local sponsored children with two meals a day. The entire community will have access to private, sanitary bathroom facilities, increasing their living conditions greatly. There will be a small dock to ensure easy loading and unloading of families during flood times.
I will spend my remaining 9 days outside the Philippines in England, preparing myself even more for the challenges that lie ahead. I am closer to my destination and the excitement for this project continues to build inside me :)
Thanks again to all donors, supporters, and followers. You have each helped me reach my goal and please continue to spread the word about this project and share my love for the people of Cangumbang.
Once I arrive in Tacloban I will begin a new blog, to document the project as I see it through until the end. All emails you will receive will always give you the most up to date link to my most recent blog. Feel free to email me with any questions you have about the project at firstname.lastname@example.org.
