I feel like I do this every blog but I feel like I have to do it again.  Almost weekly I hear stories about children who need help in so many ways and today this happened as well.  My parents have decided to sponsor a child here along with my sister Suzy and her husband Keith.  The sponsorship coodinator here happens to be my host sister so I have been talking to her alot about who they should sponsor.  Today she took me to the child's house who she had chose for them to co-sponsor.  After you hear his story you will understand why he needs so much help.
Vincent is 11 year old and has elephantitis for the majority of his life.  It is a kind of parasite, I don't know much about it but from what I know the longer you wait the worse it gets.  The parasite has infected his left leg mostly from his knee down.  He went to doctor in Cebu but all he said he could do was amputate his entire left leg.  The doctor suggested that he go to the specialist in Manila for a second opinion.  Since the family is very poor he cannot afford to go there.  The doctor visit is free because it is a public hospital but the medicine is expensive.  The medicine also takes a long time to kill the parasite and heal the leg.  Along with money for the medicine they need money for the accommodations.  They need enough money to pay for the plane flights, hotel, and food of Vincent (the child), one of his family members, and a VFV staff member.  We are asking all the volunteers here if they know of anyone who would want to donate or if they have any money to donate.
If any of you feel that you can donate any money, even small amouts like 20 dollars or less it is still welcomed of course.  Just email me at if you have any questions or would like to donate.
Thank you all so much for sharing this experience with me.  It is so nice knowing that I have so many people supporting me at home.  I know that all of you do not have the funds to help support with donations and I am not asking you to give money that you can't afford to give.  But please pray for Vincent's healing.
