Where I stayed
Macasil Family Home
After much delay I was finally able to go to my new placement today. The children there are all so adorable of course. And all they really need is love and attention. It was hard for me to give it to all of them since there are 13 children. The staff there kinda seem desensitized to the children and their needs other than feeding. So I am going to try and give them little attention and loving whenever I can. There were two really little babies, 7 months and 3 months that I couldn't stop holding. I noticed some of the children has bruises on their backs, I'm guessing they are from laying on their beds for so long. The children don't have sheets in their cribs; the 2 babies have pillows surrounding them but that's all. They tie the bigger children's legs to the cribs when it is resting time so that they don't climb out. There are almost no toys there so it is really hard to give every child something to play with and they are not big on sharing at all. I am going to try and bring enough toys with me this week so that each child can have something to play with all the time. There were two children today whom the house mother just kept giving sandels to to play with.
I finally got to cuddle Jonathan a little today, the 3 year old that is severely disabled. I guess the real reason it is hard for them to feed him is because he has trouble swallowing. There is one house mother who basically only cares for him which is very good in my opinion.
I am so glad to have been placed at my new orphanage. I can tell after one day that they need me so much more there.
