Our first taste of Brazil
Nov 01, 2006
We were heading to Sao Paulo to catch up with our friend Ana, who we met in Bariloche, Argentina where she was working in the hostel we stayed in. She's from Sao Paolo and had gone home a month before to do some work there. We stayed in a Formula One hotel, which was great as Sao Paolo doesn't really do hostels. It was really clean, cheap and well located, a definite recommendation. That first evening we went to the Asian market in Liberdade and had lovely sushi. We met up with Ana for coffee the next morning and then had a bit of an explore. We ended up having lunch, along with loads of beers at a café near the hotel. We then went to dinner with Ana to an Indian restaurant which had great food. Sao Paulo isn't really for travellers so we didn't see or do too much. The next morning we had to get the bus to Rio De Janerio as it was a friend Alex's birthday meal that evening. It's only 6 hours by bus to Rio (we are now so used to long bus journeys this is the equivalent of 30 mins at home). We were really looking forward to getting to Rio as it would mean meeting up with Alex, Gemma and Eamonn, who we last saw in Bolivia.
