We woke early and watched the sun rise over the peaks east of Mesa Verde.  The drive down the mountain of Mesa Verde meant more breathtaking views of the peaks, canyons and valleys below. We left the Park and headed off to Monument Valley, Utah. This is where some John Wayne and Clint Eastwood movies were filmed. The isolated natural rock formations just rise from the flat ground at random, and provide some magnificent vistas. This is an ancient Navajo Indian site and so exploration can only be done with Navajo guides. We stopped at the Navajo Information Centre and had some lunch before heading off to Canyon de Chelly, Arizona. We arrived at about 5.00pm. after settling into the room we took a look in the gift shop that sells genuine Navajo Indian jewellery, clothing, books, art works and rugs. We had dinner at the cafe, then caught up on internet stuff.
