Where I stayed
After packing up the car we headed to the Farmers' Market at Santa Fe. We browsed for a while then purchased some fruit and salad vegetables for our lunch. We then set off for the drive to Mesa Verde National Park. We stopped off at Pagosa Springs for a "dip" in the natural hot springs (sulphur based). The springs were very relaxing. The girls tried out the cooler ones (between 90 - 95 degrees F) but Dave tried the hotter (around 104 degrees F) ones as well. It is a fabulous place to stop over, and certainly broke the long drive to Mesa Verde. We made our lunch at Pagosa Springs before setting off again on our drive. We arrived at Mesa Verde National Park at about 7.00pm. The views of the park as we travelled up the mountains were very spectactular. The lodge was quite impressive as well. We had dinner at the Metate Room at the lodge - Ellen tried out the Elk steaks which were delicious. An early night, ready for a big day tomorrow.
