It is the Labour Day public holiday so lots of traffic on the roads. The drive from San Luis Obispo to Santa Monica was mainly Highway driving. Some of the houses were incredible to look at, though. They seem to get more elaborate as we drove towards Malibu which is where many movie stars live. We spent about an hour and a half at Malibu Beach, but didn't recognise any famous people!!! After a subway lunch we we headed to Santa Monica. After settling into our rooms, we strolled along the SM beach and up to the pier where there are sideshows/rides. The SM beach is where the Baywatch TV episodes were filmed. We saw the Baywatch tower!!! We are staying on Main Street and there are some fabulous shops along here - we'll have to check them out more throughly on Wednesday before we leave here. Dinner tonight was at a place called The Gallery - very yummy meals - interesting that they had Australian lamb chops (3) for $31.00 and Australian Lobster and steak for $44.00 on the menu - mind you we didn't order those!!!! An early night is in order because we have a busy day tomorrow.
