Weary and worn from an emotional day and night on a long road, we pulled into the KOA in Jonestown, PA. After slowly exiting the truck, I fought to straighten my legs against the aches, then ambled up to the office, which was closed of course, and picked up our late arrival packet. We found the site easily enough, and we both fell into our rituals of setting up the RV for the night. My job was to drop the landing gear and stabilize the rig, hook up the electrical, water, sewer and television and Kathy would extend the slideout and get things prepared on the inside.
She was slow getting out of the truck, so I went in to extend the slide, and after I did, Karen stuck her head out from underneath one of the two easy chairs
I was so relieved, I gave her a big hug – much to her disdain – and held onto her as I brought her out to the truck to show Kathy, who was equally surprised and happy. So now I felt that I didn't lose a window so much as I gained a cat. But I still did lose a window. And I didn’t gain a cat. I already had her. Basically, it was a net loss of a window on this one.
So that night I taped a black plastic garbage bag over the window frame but suspected it would blow off at highway speeds. In any case, it would keep any rain out overnight.
