What a more perfect way to start your day in Bali, then to get up with the sunrise, and awaken your body and mind with a Yoga class. We have moved "villas" to one closer to town, and one I stayed at on my last trip to Bali several years ago. I have this great little set up on the "veranda" ( deck :) in which I sleep outside on the daybed which is converted into a little oasis complete with a mosquito net to keep me content while I sleep to the sounds of nature without actually sleeping with them. The sound I hear outside every day is like being on the Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland, without the tourists and having to wait in line.
Our new location is very close to this wonderful yoga studio called appropriately " The Yoga barn" since it is a large open air outdoor yoga studio, complete with a vegetarian restaurant outdoors in the back. It a incredible serene location with the studio upstairs surrounded by the jungle with a large, thatched roof and hardwood floors and no surrounding walls, only trees and flowers.
This morning, I was up with the sunrise, and my alarm clock was the sounds of the locus awaking with the day, sleeping outside is something that everyone should experience, especially when it sounds like you are in the middle of a jungle, ! Oh wait, I am.
My 7 am yoga instructor was full of enthusiasm , as one could be so early in the morning, a sweet woman from India who has been teaching yoga for many years. She filled us with positive thoughts on every new pose, and told us that our smiles warmed her heart,,,
My favorite words of advise was during a hold where we were all in a lunge. " Don't lean forward too much, the future has not happened yet, no reason to already be there. Don't lean too far back, the past is something that has already happened, no reason to be back there at all. Be right there in the center, in the moment, Hold right there, and enjoy every breath of exactly where you are, that is the place you should always be...." Wow , I'm getting up and going to Yoga every day that we are here.
I really love going to Yoga, Its one of those few things in life that has more than one purpose. It not only is a great form of exercise, it teaches you patience, clears your mind, and enriches your spirit , no matter what faith you believe in. But I cant help but notice, the "trendy" Yogi crowd that it attracts. They can be very much the hipster crowd with their comfortable clothes that they wear through out the day even after class so you all know that they are all " Yogis".  They are a pretty cool crowd, but not the overly friendly type....Isnt  Yoga suppose to make you full of Love?  They sometimes take  over the  popular coffee shops talking about how growing their own vegetables and driving a hybrid is the way to live as they surf the Internet on their Ipads.....wait a minute....okay so their no better than the rest of us, I would go to Yoga more often if I could afford it. Being that cool and flexible isnt cheap.
The girls have been very busy shopping for wonderful items for their new business, Sandpiper Imports. Bali is such a wonderful place to purchase handmade items that are so unique and made by local artists that live and call Bali home. It a very special to be here with them and actually experience going with them to meet the people who are making the things that they are buying. We have gone to their homes, and met their families, and the things that are made here is really like shopping in a World Market, but this is where this all starts and comes from!
The days have been flying by, and we leave on Friday to go back to Bangkok, and then in a few days beginning another adventure in Southern Thailand...but a few more days of Peace, Love and more words of wisdom from my new morning Guru.

Ok, I need to stop neglecting my yoga mats in my trunk. I wanted a new one and Josh said, "you don't even use the two you have!" Time to get back into yoga…you are my inspiration! Miss you!

Namaste - so glad you are enjoying a discipline 5,000 years old. imagine if the entire world would embrace ancient traditions that have proven tried and true. It has been in the 80's all week and today the waves will reach 10 to 15 feet! The sunsets have been like oil paintings. How wonderful that when you leave paradise there in Bali at least you will return home to a metropolitan paradise and not 25 degree Chicago. Still dreaming of Chiang Mai "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace" Jimi Hendrix
