On the drive up we passed lots of art villages, and local artists making their crafts, alot of wood and stone sculptures and paintings, Upud is known to be the art capital of Bali.
The town of Ubud is bigger than I thought, but I am not new in discovering this tranquil spot, Ubud is known as the hot destination in visiting, in fact, some come to Ubud, and never go anywhere else. Its centrally located near the center of the island, so staying here gives you the opportunity to see all the main attractions and temples, and coming back to your guest house at night.
My place I found thru travel blogs and thru my favorite trip advisor, there are 4 guest houses owned by the same , mine is closest to town, is the smallest, and the cheapest
Words can even begin to describe my place.....wow...!!!!!
The first night I stayed in the bottom floor of the villa, it has 3 rooms, and windows all the way around overlooking a private pool and my own veranda. The grounds are surrounded by gardens and ancient statues, and all this for the whopping price of $30, which includes an amazing breakfast that I personally order every day and is delivered to my veranda.....ahhhh.
It gets even better!!! Today I moved up to my reserved room upstairs in the villa ( I arrived a day earlier than expected so my room wasn't available until today...) and the upstairs room has vaulted ceilings, is all open air, like a loft, and has a HUGE deck that is also all open on the sides with just vaulted roof and ceilings fans and a poster bed covered with one of those Misqito net canopies....my outside deck overlooks a jungle and rice field. I cant even believe places like this exist in the world....and there are many, many other guest houses all over that look just as amazing as mine! But I love mine! I have found my peace, and if there wasn't so many other beautiful things to see here, I would never leave my villa.
The town of ubud is full of the cutest shops and restaurants , and....spas,spas , spas, so many that the prices are cheap, and the abeanse is out of this world with incense and candles and music, and fountains.
The money here in Indonesia is the Rupiah....its 9000 for $1 us dollar....thats alot of 0s.
I am still having to stop and think about it every time I pay for something. The clothes here are so cheap, exp the skirts and sarongs which are made in Indonesia so you can get each for about $3, and sandals too, for about $2....I am going to have to buy a small duffel bag because my backpack is only big enough to hold what I brought! Thats okay, I got the duffel bag for only $3....:-)
