So on our second day here, Maureen and I have settled into our own little routines. Maureen likes reading her books in the shade in her lounge chair , and I like laying on my beach towel down on the sand , watching the waves and being warm!!!! I have been using 50 sunscreen to help prevent getting too much sun, having a sunburn and carrying a backpack are not a good combination. There is this great little beach side bar/restaurant that is next door to our hotel that we have been going to for lunch every day, we love the Tandoori chicken Pita sandwiches, we give them a A plus.
This was our last full day here, so we had a big day planned. Not really, but when you are on a island and there is not much to do, which is exactly why you go to an island, then even leaving your beach is a big day. There is a famous Cable Car here on the other side of the island which takes you to the top to get an amazing view of all of Langkawi and some of its 99 islands, in which only 3 are inhabited. The Cable Car is like a gondola that Maureen and I got to ourselves since there were only a few other tourists being towards the end of the day. The way up was steep, and there was nothing but jungle below us, and it was a LONGGGGGG way down. Not for the faint of heart, or anyone even remotely afraid of heights. At one point the gondola stopped for about 5 minutes and just left us suspended in the air. At one of those moments who start reflecting on your life, and how it would be one interesting way to go , if it is your time, and then the car starts moving again......ahhhh, back to the vacation.
The views were amazing up there, its hard to describe. Its also amazing that something so cool is barely mentioned as a " must do" and we thought it was so great! They had this suspended bridge that you could walk over and it was on top of the mountain! We got some great pictures from up there.
On to our next adventure of the day ( we had only two planned) Cocktails at the  Four Seasons Resort. Words just cant describe this hotel. It is set on this amazing  wide ,white sand beach and the property takes up 43 acres. It was voted resort of the year last year. I love to visit amazing hotels, if just to sit in one of their fancy bars enjoying their property at a fraction of the price. The bar we visited here is called The Rue Bar. It is like being transformed into Morocco with its Lanterns hanging from the ceiling and candles and Egyptian decor all around. We had our drinks on this suspended swing built for two, on the beach, with candles and twinkling lights surrounding us. I have been to alot of really cool places, but I can say that I have never been somewhere so romantic and unforgettable ....it will forever be on my lists of moments in my life that I will never forget....Ahhhhh.
So tomorrow it is on to Ko Lipe Thailand. We are taking a ferry over there from here, and will be meet by longboats owned and run by Sea Gypsies that are the only final transportation to the island, since the ferries can not go all the way to the island because of the shallow water  and coral reef. This island is the farthest southern island in Thailand and very hard to get to because crossing at the Thai/ Malaysian border is very dangerous because of the conflict there between the two countries, so the only way to go there is by sea. Because of the seasons, the island is only visited 6 months of the year, in the summer months the water is too rough for travel, and boats will not make the trip. There are only just a few bungalow hotels here, and there is no banks or ATM's so I hope we will have enough cash with us...no credit card either , I suppose.
So off to another island, looking for beaches undiscovered and seclusion....I am not sure about the Internet there, so I will update you soon if I find my paradise.
