So the day started out with one of those life lessons that I actually already knew....Its amazing how time can make you forget these lessons...I learned this lesson in Cabo San Lucas , Mexico on a trip there many years ago. But this day started out having a great breakfast at our hotel in Kaula Lumpur that last morning...eggs, toast , some local favorites, and some delicious , fresh Watermelon,.....it was yummy. The day went on ( I will fill you in on the rest of the morning in a little bit) and I was feeling a little, off. We were on this long trip to the LCC airport ( the low cost carrier airport ) outside of the city, nice bus...local...only $3 !!! It was a long ride, we had no idea it was far. So if this is wayyyy too much information for some of you , then I apologize in advance.

But you know , when you know, that you just HAVE to get to a restroom, ...well there I was , on that bus, and there was NOOOO bathroom on that bus! Luckily my travel karma kicked in,  just in time, and we pulled up at that terminal with seconds to spare. I found my restroom, and the day was saved.  The Watermelon was the only thing that I had for breakfast, that Maureen did not ( she knew better, thought I was being adventurous I guess) So the lesson is...if you cant drink the water, DONT eat the watermelon.  We have been drinking bottle water the whole time here, as you usually do in most foreign, third world countries. Watermelon is made of 90% water, seems easy to figure out, but it looked so delicious, and it was the most beautiful color of red, and I have a bad memory...( flash back, same thing happen to me in Cabo). But the good thing is...I feel great! Traveling can get you a little backed up , if you know what I mean, and I hear people pay up to $100 to get one of those colon cleanings, and I got mine for free ( the breakfast was included at our hotel) All is good, its all over..:-)

So on to the day... In the morning we were still in KL, and we went to the famous Petronas Towers. They are the highest twin towers in the world. They are in a very fancy, first class mall in the middle of the city. Maureen and I were lucky enough to score a couple "standby" tickets to go up and walk the bridge in between the towers and get some great views. This is a very popular attraction,.and you have to get there super early to get your tickets, which are free, but they only can take a few people up at a time , so we were lucky that they squeezed us in.

The towers were built by in the 1998,  with a 2000 a day crew of workers , working 12 hour a day shifts. The Architect was American, and designed with respect to the Islamic Culture. They were a modern masterpiece in a city with still so much history of old buildings and temples and mosques.

So Back to the airport, we flew on Air Asia,,,a discount airline , sort of the southwest airlines of Asia. We paid $40 for our round trip ticket. We had to scramble for our place in line ( it was open seating...hate that) to find that there was plenty of seats open.

The Island of Langkawi is rapidly changing and developing and so far reminds me of a cross between Mui Ne beach in Vietnam, and Koh Chang in Thailand, a nice Combination. Our Hotel is amazing...we have this cute Bungalow style room, with a little courtyard, open-sky light Bali style bathroom ,and are 1 minute walk down a jungle-zen path to the beach.

But its time for me to get some sun, so more on our Langkawi retreat later.
