There was about 10 of us arriving into our resort this morning. All couples, except Christine and I. All different nationalities, visiting from different parts of the world. We were brought into a greeting area, and given a freshly open coconut with a straw, perfect greeting. This resort is casual, it was one the closest even though it took about 45 minutes by speedboat, and its one of the least expensive ones that i found in my extensive search. The offers here include all inclusive, all meals, except drinks which is a great deal since in my research I had read that the food and everything on the islands is expensive. The accommodations offered here are bungalows dotted around the outskirts of this small island close to the beach, some single story, and some double story, tucked behind the palm trees so when you pass by this island all you see is a deserted island. They come aircondtioned, with solid concrete walls to withstand the stormy season, which luckily we missed, but are still arriving here on the tail end of the slow season which is another reason we received an amazing rate. $160 a night, all inclusive ( all meals) including tax and gratuity. Yes, that comes to $80 each for Christine and I , to stay in this paradise island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. There is nothing fancy here. Its well maintained, and the beaches are spotless. There is a large open air restaurant that serves all your meals, buffet style, with meals and themes that change every day . A fisherman's Bar that offers nightly entertainment, a small spa on the beach, a beach bar with tables in the sand and a great sunset view, a outdoor sports center with kayaks, catamarans, and sailboard to rent. Nothing fancy, but really all you need. No Butlers, they re isn't fancy decor, hand carved furniture or 2-3 staff members for every guest. I would describe this place as a casual carnival cruise ship, except this one has its own private oasis, and you get off and get lost any time you want. So, i know i mentioned that we would not be staying in one of the fancy bungalow that jet offer the water, high up on stilts, with their own private deck where you can jump in, any time you want. But I have always wanted to. Its been on my list....forever. After not much convincing, Christine and I decided to " take a peak" into one of them that happened to be available when we arrived. We walked onto the long deck that jetted out into the sea, like a plank walking to your destiny instead of your demise. Just the view from the raised platform that leads to your private bungalow over the sea is enough to peak any ones excitement and anticipation. The key entered the lock, and we open the door to see right through the water bungalow to the other side and to the clear blue water surrounding it. We were sold before we even stepped foot inside. The bungalow is big! with bedroom french doors that open up to a huge, wrap around private deck with surround water views, chaise lounge chairs, a table to have your coffee in the morning, and steps that lead right into the water , right from your deck. Wow, now I have traveled alot. Seen some amazing places but this place is officially on the top of my list. Our bedroom has a large , canopy king bed, a dressing area, and a glass enclosed bathroom with a door that opens up onto your deck so you dont have to even go thru the bungalow in your wet bath suit to jump into the shower. From the bathtub you can gaze out onto the ocean, and because they are built up high on stilts, even the snorkelers swimming by cant take away your privacy. Christine and I are in Heaven, and for the difference in price a night from the comfort bungalow we had booked originally of exactly one hour rate a night of what we make in our airline jobs back home. Yes,,,its totally worth it.
