I arrived on Egirdir late last night. It is a small small fishing village on the 4th largest lake in Turkey. After waking up to a stunning view of the village * we had a walk around. An old lady chased us down the street (in a good way) and beckoned us back to her porch where there were 8 other old ladies all sitting around rolling out bread dough while a huge pot of boiling oil sat over an open fire. To commemorate the death of her husband 15 years ago - the village ladies gather around and make bread for the community. For a laugh they had me sit down and butcher a piece of dough ... which was hardly recognizable as 'bread' when all was said and done ... but it was good!! We are leaving this town tonight for another small fishing village where Utku's friend is a squid fisherman ... calamari. bring it ON!
