Oy vay. Delhi. People said that nothing can prepare you for India, and I now understand why. It's al extremely overhwhelming. The trip started out well when my friend Matti actually found me at the airport, and we were able to journey to our hotel together in a vintage 1955 van, narrowly escaping death no less than 44 times in the 44 minutes journey!! The following day we set out to sort out the domestic travel portion of our trip, and discovered the true meaning of the word "bamboozeled". We spent nearly all day in different travel offices - after getting routed to all of the "government" sponsored travel agencies (wow - the guide book says there is only ONE, but random touts on the street would lead you to believe that there are 503!!!).
After 8 hours of getting random routes/costs/plans pitched to us, we settled on a car and driver for a 15 day tour of Rajasthan (west of Delhi - the desert - and near boarder of Pakistan) we set off for the BEST indian food (well, again, here, it's probably just called "food") ever - my first introduction to Butter Chicken! Fantastic!!
The next day we saw some sights (the India Gate, and a big Hindu Temple where we were blessed by a monk) and then set off for the desert.
(Pictures will follow - costs a fortune to upload them, but will do so soon!!)
