Seems the theme of this trip was food. Not that I'm complaining, it was all fabulous. The Congress was good. The lectures were for the most part informative, nothing relevation-level for work, but interesting. The best part of the trip was the networking. It was really rather fun, as I met up with more people there than I can claim to know at conferences in the states! I met almost the whole faculty from my time in Hannover, and wowed them with my German. Ran into a few lecturers from the states that I knew or had heard of from school, it's always fun to chat with other Americans.
We spent most evenings at dinners with our group, but there were always other groups of vets around. One night we ended up at a super nice restaraunt, with a trio of musicians to serenade us. There was a rowdy group of South African vets there, and the evening culminated in singing, and dancing, and speeches made for each other
One day a few of us skipped out to see a hungarian horse farm just outside of Budapest. It was started by two brothers who competed in carriage racing. There is a wagon ride through the property, a show featuring horses, ponies, oxen and a donkey, then a tradtional dinner. Again, nothing but fabulous.
Now I am back to work for a few days, then onto the states!

markthalle dinner
. It was quite entertaining. The next night was a river cruise down the Danube, at the beginning of which it rained. While I was comiserating with a group from Australia and New Zealand, the sun came out and there was the most gorgeous rainbow over the parliment building. It was amazing! Afterwards we ate dinner in a market hall, all the while swapping good (and bad) first year in practice stories.
